[OpenStack-docs] [install-guides] mariadb/mysql for opensuse

0 votes

Hello,

I was going through the drafts for Kilo and realized that as per the given
section under the mariadb section:
http://docs.openstack.org/draft/install-guide/install/zypper/content/ch_basic_environment.html#basics-networking

I do not get the required results by editing the following configuration
file: /etc/my.cnf.d/mariadb_openstack.cnf

What works for me is /etc/my.cnf as per the traditional method. Does
someone know why this has been changed?

Regards,
Pranav

This was changed with https://review.openstack.org/#/c/172635.

It was changed because of: "Where available, use the /etc/mysql/conf.d
directory for additional database configuration."

If this is not working for SUSE based distributions with have to revert
the change in line 37
(https://review.openstack.org/#/c/172635/3/doc/install-guide/section_basics-database.xml).

Christian.

And works for me on openSUSE - is this really different in SLES 12?

Christian, Thanks for pointing this out. One of the clusters on my personal
laptop had conflicting configurations.

Andreas, Thanks for confirming.

As of now, editing both the mariadb/my.cnf file works for me. I guess this
is just a temporary provisioning till they switch to mariadb completely.

both ways should work, I considered the extra file "cleaner" ;)
