[OpenStack-DefCore] DefCore Team Mascot

0 votes

Hi everyone,

This is a bit late and we’re short on time, but if you have any ideas
for a DefCore mascot[1][2], please submit them to this thread or directly to
me, and I'll send them on to the Foundation for review.

My suggestion is an Oak Tree, with the roots representing our foundation
in upstream OpenStack and the branches reaching out over the entire
community.

Please vote for defcore mascot. Poll closes 7-27-2016 3PM CST. Due to short notice, you can write in new options. No mythical creatures or man made objects allowed according to the rules, so no unicorns or omelets unfortunately.

Agreed, great suggestions. Deadline is tomorrow, 7-28, so we need to decide quickly. Poll would be good. I will try to send one out with the suggestions.

Due to the short notice on our part we are not able to wait for more suggestions and have a vote in a timely fashion. If there are objections we can postpone mascot selection to a later date, whenever the next mascot round will happen.

Thank you,

Hi,

Onion (due to layers, peeling back the onion so to speak), Elephant (both from an importance perspective -- elephant in the room as well as "never forgets", and Oak Tree (solid roots and branches) all sound like great ideas. There were some other great ones in the list as well (although they don't meet the guidelines)... Could we create a poll or maybe add as a mid-cycle topic?

Thanks,

I'm clearly on a different page than everyone else. My suggestions are
things like mushroom, egg, onion and avocado. hmmm....I really like
onion as a suggestion. Maybe I just need to make an omelet.

Miss you all!

PS: I'm serious about the Onion.

what about "A Standard Bearer". With a graphic artist one could come up

I'd like to propose a bee. Because it is an example of cooperation and
organization and they are essential to life in this planet.

Another idea is the dog because no matter the breed they all work
together in a pack, they also form packs with humans.

Cheers,
Gema

The RefStack project has submitted "a honey comb design in the logo with a
bee as the mascot " as our first choice :-) [1].

Hello Everyone,

As we discussed in our meeting today [1], project Oaktree [2] has taken root since we selected our mascot. We feel that it could be confusing for Interop (DefCore) working group to have oak tree as a mascot when OpenStack project with the same name exists. Chris Hoge checked with the Foundation staff, and it appears that it would be possible for us to still change it. When selecting a mascot [3], onion was runner up, so we propose that onion would be our new mascot.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
