[openstack-dev] [tc][solum] is solum-infra-guestagent an unmaintained project?

0 votes

When reviewing the projects necessary for the ocata community-wide goal,
(to remove old oslo-incubator code [1]) I noticed that solum-infra-guest
agent has had very few commits, 13 in total [2]. Almost half of which
were project cleanup type changes that all projects did. The last patch of
significance was over 2 years ago (Sept 2014).

I'm inquiring as to the status of the project, and what we should do about
it? It's still being maintained by the good will of some community members,
but it's eating up time nonetheless.

Hi Steve,

Your observation is correct.

Solum team had created solum-infra-guestagent repository to investigate the
idea of a build agent for building applications.
However the work in that direction has not progressed in a while.

So it should be okay to remove solum-infra-guestagent repo from official
governance.
I will discuss this with Solum team in our irc meeting next week and submit
a patch to remove this repo from project-config.

Thanks,
Devdatta

Doh, and I'd already done one cleanup patch against it.

Hello Michael, Steve,
Thanks again to both of you for providing patches to remove oslo-incubator
code from solum-infra-guestagent.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I will probably propose to remove
this repository from official Solum repositories. I had it on this week's
IRC meeting agenda, but folks were probably returning from Barcelona so the
meeting did not take place.

I know that the Ocata goal acknowledgement deadline is November 17th. I
will do the acknowledgement patch to openstack/governance before that
stating the current state of Solum repositories wrt to the goal. FYI, we
have converted solum repo already and python-solumclient has had patches
proposed. We had not yet worked on solum-infra-guestagent, but thanks to
both of you, solum-infra-guestagent will now satisfy the goal (really
appreciate the patches). If Solum team agrees, we will remove
solum-infra-guestagent repository from official repos so that it won't
impact any future community wide goals.

Regards,

Devdatta
